| This year, we progressives will build on the 2006 election victory. Those vast majority of us who have chosen to appose war, face down corruption, and uphold the constitution of the United States of America will overwhelm and overpower those in power who hold onto the ideas of greed and power for the sake of power. This year, even the elected Democrats will be challenged to show true progressive strength!
2008/01/03: Obama, Edwards and Clinton win the Iowa Democratic caucus!
In a fantastic validation, Barack Obama and John Edwards took first and second prize in the Iowa caucuses, followed by Hillary Clinton. I couldn't be happier. The three most electable Democratic candidates, ranked in my favorite order, with the one at first place who passes my most important check: Never having voted for the war. Fantastic! And while the Republican candidates vie for "most crazy xenophobe", the Democrats push each other to more and more socially liberal, globally inclusive, and economically fair policies.
As we promote democracy around the world, please participate in it at home! Educate yourself on the candidates and issues, and not just the presidential candidates! We are all affected by all of our elected officials, be they city board members, judges, congressmen and women, senators, or the president. If you feel some of the candidates would be good for the you, the country, and/or the world, support them! Remember, and take pride in your vote!
2008/02/04: Super Tuesday tomorrow!
Tomorrow, the bulk of the primary delegates will be assigned. It's a huge day, and both the Democratic and Republican primaries are up for grabs. It's hugely exciting! Honestly, I really believe that both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton would make excellent presidents. I favor Barack, and I encourage everyone to read his writings, and watch his speaches at www.barackobama.com, but Hillary too would be a good choice. What really excites me about this race is that in all likelihood, the republicans will have their butts handed to them, and we will, for the first time ever, have a woman or a man of color in the white house. Even if the Democratic candidates wouldn't be great leaders, it would be a momentous occasion, but it's so much better, since they will!

Quila (2008-02-06): Erik,
Can you post the stance that Obama, Clinton and McCain take on immigration reform via past votes? Thus, I don't want to hear about what they are campaigning at present, I want to know what they have VOTED for in the past regarding this issue. I have many collegues that are for McCain, but I looked up his record this morning and he mostly has voted Pro-Amnesty and against immigration reform. I knew if anyone had the info, it would be you. This is huge issue with us, and I would like a well researched answer.
Thanks
Erik (2008-02-11): Quila,
There are a bunch of sites on the net that do a pretty good job of summarizing the voting record of congresspeople, some of which are:
senate.gov
thomas.loc.gov
votesmart.org
aflcio.org
